Woodlands vs. Vandergrift Match

On Monday, September 24th, the Varsity boys played their opening event against Vandergrift in a 6 vs. 6 match. The boys played very well shoot rounds of 300 - 300 - 600. Leading the players for the 2 rounds was Junior Jeronimo Guererro (76-73-149). The single round low score went to Senior Andrew Rodriguez, who fired a 2 under par 70, which included an Eagle on the 36th hole!!

A&M Kickoff Classic

On Wednesday, September 26th, The JV team officially kicked of the tournament season at the A&M Consolidated Kickoff Classic at Pecan Lakes Golf Club in Navasota, TX. We had three teams and two individuals participate in the tournament, and all did very well. The Highlander "A" Team finished 3rd overall with a 305 team total and were led by sophomore standouts Marshall Schier & Carson Brian, who both shot 75. The "B" team finished 5th with a 338 total, and the "C" team clipped the "B" Team by 6 shots finishing 4th with a 332 total. Another notable achievment was from Junior Emiliano Garcia De La Cadena who shot a career low 78!!! Congratulations boys!!

A&M Consolidated Tiger Classic

On Friday and Saturday, October 5th & 6th, the Varsity competed in the A&M Consolidated Tiger Classic at Pebble Creek CC in College Station, TX. The boys got off to a fast start and recorded their best round of the year shooting 295. This included a career best 69 from Senior Diego Roldan! Also standing out for the Highlanders was freshman Carson Ezell with a 71. The second round played tougher, but the boys rallied the last couple of holes to shoot 306. The low round of the day belonged to freshman Will Jordan, who fired a team best 74. Junior Davis Archer fired a 77, while Senior Pablo Del Olmo came in with a 78. The 2 day, 601 total, was good enough to take 2nd Place, 11 shots behind the eventual winner Stratford. Congrats to the boys on a great tournament!!

15-6A District Preview

On Friday and Saturday, October 12th & 13th, the Varsity competed in the 15-6A District Preview at La Torretta Lake Resort and Spa. The first day, the "A" team shot 316 and took a 2 shot lead over the "B" team who shot 318. Both teams were lead by freshmen, "A" team Carson Ezell - 74, and "B'' Team Will Jordan - 78. The second day was much more difficult due to the gusty winds, but the boys hung in there and  got it done. The low round of the day was shot by Junior Lucas Wright who shot a 2 over par 73! Other highlights were by freshman Will Jordan, who made a Hole in One on the par 3 #2, and also to Junior Davis Archer, who holed out from the fairway on #15 for an Eagle!! The "A" team ended up pulling away from the "B" team day 2 by shooting 311, while the "B" team shot 327. The "A" Team took first place, while the "B" Team took 2nd. Great playing this week Highlanders!!!

Magnolia JV Classic

On Tuesday, October 16th, the Highlander JV squad stormed onto the hallowed grounds of Lake Windcrest CC in the cold and rain. The "A" team shot 322 and took home 2nd place honors. Standing out for the "A" team was Sophomore Marshall Schier, who shot a team best  77 and got 2nd individually. The "B" Team shot 354 and the "C" Team came in at 401. Great job guys!!!

Huntsville Hornet Invitational

On Friday and Saturday, October 19th and 20th, The Highlander Varsity competed in the Huntsville Hornet Invitational at Raven Nest GC. The 1st day was great weather and good scoring conditions, but day 2 was a different story, with overnight heavy rainfall. Through it all, both teams competed well. Great job guys!!!

Montgomery 6 Team Match Play

On Friday & Saturday, October 26th & 27th, The Highlander Varsity played in the inaugural Montgomery Match Play Championship. The field was small, just 6 teams, but the competition was fierce! Friday was a long day, as the kids played 36 holes of stroke play to seed themselves for Match Play on Saturday. The first round didn't go so well as the boys shot a team hi of 323 for the year. The 2nd round was much better, as 4 of the 6 players shot scores in the 70's. The Highlanders ended up in 3rd place after stroke play, and were set to play the Kingwood Mustangs on Saturday. Saturday was a great day for the boys as 4 of our 6 players won their matches and beat the Mustangs 4 - 2. Standing out for the Highlanders were Freshmen Carson Ezell and Will Jordan. Ezell won his match in convincing fashion 4&3, but it was Jordan who took his match all the way to the 18th hole winning 1 up and securing the winning point for the team! Way to go guys!

Montgomery Fall JV Classic

On Monday, October 29th, the Highlander JV stormed the hallowed grounds of April Sound CC in Montgomery, TX. The boys played hard and had a great day at the very difficult course. Leading the way for the Highlanders was Junior Eduardo Contreras who shot a team low of 87. Great job guys!

Conroe Tiger Classic

On Friday & Saturday, November 2nd & 3rd, the Highlander C Team plus 1 medalist played in the annual Conroe Tiger Classic at the historic Conroe Country club in Conre, TX. Although the course is only 9 holes, It is a stern test of golf. Sophomore newcomer, Alejandro alonso, lead the way for the boys, firing rounds of 75 & 73 for a 148 Total. This was good enough to earn him 2nd place individual honors for the tournament. Also standing out for the boys was Sophomore Mitchell Lidisky, who fird rounds of 79 & 78 for a 157 total and was good enough to earn him 3rd place individually. The team shot 318-322-640, which took 2nd overall!! Congratulations to the boys on a tournament well played!!!

Central Texas Shootout

On Friday & Saturday, November 2nd & 3rd, The Highlander A and B team competed in the Central Texas Shootout in Waco, TX at Cottonwood GC. The first day was a little windy and cool as the boys A Team managed to build an 18 shot lead, firing a 307, while the B Team fired 339. The second day was much different, as the wind was blowing a constant 20 - 25 mph, with gusts up to 35 mph. This is where the A Team dug deep and proved why they were the best team in the field. Lead by Seniors Andres Anzaldua and Andrew Rodriguez along with Outstanding Freshman Carson Ezell, the A Team fired a blistering 304 and won the tournament by 55 shots. The B Team shot 349 and finished 4th overll. Anzaldua, Rodriguez and Ezell tied for the top medalist spot along with one other player from Rockwall. A 4 way playoff for 1st began on # 1, in which both Rodriguez and Anzaldua birdied to advance, Ezell and the Rockwall player were eliminated. After the 4th playoff hole, both players were still tied and decided to end it as Co-Champs. Congratulations to all of our guys for a tournament well played.

Oak Ridge Fall JV Classic

On Monday, November 5th, the Highlander JV played the newly reopened Cypresswood GC "Traditions Course", after it had been shut down for almost a year due to flooding after Hurricane Harvey. The boys all gave valiant effort, but the course was very wet and played extremely long. The "A" team fired 343, the "B" team fired 373 and the "C" team fired 389.

Vern Edwards Memorial Tournament

On Monday and Tuesday, January 21st & 22nd, The Woodlands Golf Team hosted the annual Vern Edwards Memorial Tournament at the Tournament Course and Player Course. All four Varsity teams and 3 individuals from the JV Team participated. Monday was a really tough day at the Tournament Course, as it was very wet and the greens were extremely fast. The "A" Team took the lead with a score of 316, which included a team low of 76 from freshman Carson Ezell. Also standing out for the Highlanders, was sophomore Mitchell Lidisky and freshman Will Jordan, who both shot 79. The second day at the Player Course was much better for the Highlander, as the "A" Team stepped on the gas and never let off. They fired a 307, which was again led by freshman Carson Ezell, who shot 75 for a two day total of 151. Ezell ended up taking home Individual honors for the event. The "A" Team won the event as well, firing a two day total of 623! Congratulations Boys!!

On Wednesday, January 30th, the JV boys played in the annual Woodlands JV Invitational at the Panther Trails course. The conditions were tough, due to the record amount of rain we've had in the area, but our boys fought through it. The "B" Team shot 343, which was 2nd by only 2 shots to the eventual champion Montgomery. The "B" Team was lead by sophomore, Cody Seibert, who shot a career tournament best of 79!!! Way to go Cody!! The "A" Team finished with a 366, which was good enough for 7th place. Way to go boys!!

Magnolia Marty Ross Shootout

On Friday and Saturday, February 1st and 2nd, The Highlanders played in the Marty Ross Shootout at High Meadow Ranch GC. The first day the conditions were tough, the course was extremely wet and it was cold. The "A" team shot 315 and was lead by Junior Davis Archer, who shot 73. The "B" team shot 318 and was lead by freshman Zach Morvant, who shot 74. The 2nd day proved to be even tougher, as the "A" team shot 318 and the "B" team shot 328. Dacis Archer was low for the Highlanders with a 2 day total of 151. Way to go boys!!

Klein JV Shootout

On Wednesday, February 6th, the JV boys played in the Klein Shootout at Gleannloch Pines. The course was very wet, but that didn't stop the Highlanders from playing well. The "A" Team finished in 2nd place with a team total of 322. They were led by standout sophomore, Parker Mitas, who fired a 1 over par 72 and took home 1st place Individually. The "B" team shot a team total of 354 and were led by freshman Emmett Schoenhals who fired an 85. Way to go boys!!!!

Kingwood Invitational

On Friday and Saturday, February 8th and 9th, The Highlanders played in the Kingwood Invitational @ the Forest Course. Due to all the rain we've had in the area this fall, the course had to be shortened considerably. In fact, there were 11 par 3's and it was made a par 62. None the less, the tournament was still a a success. The first day was playing pretty tough with temperatures in the 40's most of the day, but that didn't stop senior Cullen Taylor from firing a team low 70 and helping the "A" team to a 287 total. The second day was much different, it was much warmer and the scores reflected that. Freshman standout Zach Morvant shot a team low 66, which helped the team fire a great score of 279!! Great Job Boys!!
