Oct. 14 & 15 April Sound CC (Montgomery TX
The Woodlands HS Girls Golf Team participated in the Montgomery Bear Varsity Girls Invitational. The Highlanders sent their 3rd and 4th Varsity teams into action against several of the best Varsity teams in the area, on a very devious April Sound Country Club. 
Several difficult tee shots and elevation changes challenge the most experienced golfers. Certainly a lot of experience was gained by these young Highlanders.
Junior, Sophia Briceno led the Red Team with a 2 day total of 172 which included a team low of 82 during the 2nd round of the tournament. Sophmore, Ava Bruner (185 Total) and Junior, Daira Moreno (186) contributed.
Senior Anna Moore led the way for the Highlander Green team with a 2 day score of 197.

Oct. 17 April Sound CC (Montgomery TX)
The Girls Freshman Team Placed 4th at the Montgomery Bear All Girls Invitational. Julianna Capacho and Katie Greene led the way with solid scores of 92 while Twin Sister Madie Greene added 97. Madeline Kretschmer and Chloe Miller rounded out the freshman team.
 
Denise Jadair and Mercedes Villalobos also participated as medalists.
 
Overall the ball striking went well, yet all the girls felt their shortgame let them down. Plenty of work to do and plenty of time and opportunity to fix that.
Oct. 28 & 29 River Ridge GC (Sealy TX)
The Girls joined several of the Houston area's top Girls Golf teams at River Ridge GC in Sealy TX. The girls played a tough golf course to the bitter end.
 
The Red team, led by Veronica Grey 78-79-157 and Karina Benavides 81-77-158, finished in 4th place in the strong field of teams.
The Green Team placed 5th and was led by Ava Bruner 85-82-167 and Myra MacLean who had a personal best tournament score of 82 on the 2nd day of competition.

Oct. 31 Conroe CC (Conroe TX)
The Woodlands Girls Varsity White Team faced off against several of the area's top varsity teams today. The strong field also included the Louisianna State champions from last year. 
The girls played the ever difficult Conroe Country Club with a team total placing them in 6th place.
Parker Bliss Led the way for the Highlanders as the teams low score for the day. Anna Moore did her part to help the team along the way.

Nov. 1 Lake Windcrest CC (Magnolia TX)
The Highlander Freshman/JV team placed 2nd in the rain shortened Magnolia HS event at Lake Windcrest. The girls all played well and displayed great improvement since they last competed.
The event was shortened to just 12 holes as severe weather rolled thru the area. Good thing the ladies played well right from the start.
Junior Mercedes Villalobos led the Highlanders with her personal best finish of 4th place while Freshmen Julianna Capacho (7th Place) and the Greene twins Katie (8th Place) and Madie (11th place) contributed to the 2nd place team score. 
Nov. 4 & 5 Cottonwood (Waco TX)
The Highlander Girls Golf Team Finished in 3rd and 5th Place at the Central Texas Shootout in Waco TX this weekend.
 
The Red Team (3rd) was led by Sophmore Karina Benavides 2 day total of 153. Junior Hana Bowman added 157 while Veronica Grey added 158. 
The Green Team (5th) was led by Junior, Samantha Salcedo's 161 and Junior, Daira Moreno's 167.
The girls gained a lot of valuable experience at the Regional Tournament Host site.
Nov. 18 & 19 Legacy Hills (Georgetown TX)
The Highlander Girls golf team competed with 20 of the top teams in the state at the 6A state tournament site. Plenty of top players in the state were in attendance.
Hana Bowman led the way for the Highlanders with 2 solid scores of 78 and 77 while Kenlie Barrett added a 76 on her 1st round of the season.

Dec. 1 High Meadow Ranch (Tomball TX)
The Highlander Lady golfers played great this week at High Meadow Ranch. Myra MacLean and Maura Coker led the White team with scores of 84 while Parker Bliss added 89. Anna Moore and Katie Greene also added to their 1st place team total. 
The 2nd teamers played well enough to claim 4th place. Julianna Capacho fired a 90 while Mercedes Villalobos and Rebecca Simbeck added 97. Madie Greene and Denise Jadair added to the team score.
Jan. 16-17 TWCC Oaks and Panther Trail (The Woodlands TX)
The Woodlands Girls Golfer survived the horrendous conditions over 2 days of the Vern Edwards Memorial on the Oaks and Panther Trails courses this week. Heavy rains, standing water, cold winds provided the kids an opportunity to gut out 2 solid rounds.
The A team led the way for the Highlanders with a 2nd place finish. Team scores of 312 and 309 were solid efforts. Hana Bowman led the way with a 2 day toltal of 151.arena Benavides added 155 while Kenlie Barrett and Hannah Bruner totalled 159.
The B Team's total score of 670, claimed 7th place. Led by Samantha Salcedo's 161, Cheyenne Sowda's 166 and Sophia Briceno's 167 aided the effort.
The C teams effort was led by freshman Julianna Capacho. Her 2 day total of 180 helped the C team to a 15th place finish.
RESULTS
Feb. 6 Glennloch Pines (Spring TX)
15 members of the Highlander Women's golf team competed in the Klein ISD spring invitational at Glennloch Pines Monday. Several of the girls fired personal best tournament rounds.
Among those who played up to their best included Sr Maura Coker and Sophmore Myra MacLean. Both recorded scores of 76 to help lead the Red team to a 2nd place finish. Erika Grey and Julianna Capacho chipped in with solid efforts while the dropped score of Parker Bliss was used to break a tie for 2nd and 3rd place.
The Green team was led by all of the ladies. It was quite a family affair with, Anna Moore, Katie Greene, Madie Greene, Emma Moore, and Rebecca Simbeck. Their solid team effort, with all 5 team scores within 3 shots of each other really highlighted the team concept of HS golf. 
The Highlander Plaid team was led by Mercedes Villalobos (89) and Denise Jadair (94) Maria Romero added a 102 in her first effort for the Highlanders.
Feb 6 Cypresswood GC
The Highlander Lady golfers played in the Oak Ridge HS Pizza Open this week. Several girls had career best rounds showing great improvement.
The Green team was led by Erika Grey (83) while Rebecca Simbeck and Anna More added 93. Emma Moore contributed to the overall team 4th place finish with a 94.
The Red team was led by Denise Jaidar92 and Maria Romero 95. Chloe Miller and Madeline Kretschmer added personal best tournament rounds to give the team a 7th place finish.
Feb 17 & 18 High Meadow Ranch (Tomball TX)
     The Highlander Girls Golfers paid a visit to High Meadow Ranch to compete with several of the states best teams. The event was played under ner perfect conditions.
     The Highlander Red Team fired 312 on Friday and a season low 302 on Saturdy to finish in 4th place. Leading the way for that Red team were Hana Bowman (150) and Kenlie Barrett (153). Overall it was a good effort for the Red Team as the girls have been able to identify areas of the game that need improvement as they head into the important finish to the season.
     The Green team fired a very solid 324 on Friday but were unable to follow that up with improvement on Saturday as their 332 left them in 9th place. ava Bruiner's 158 and Samantha Salcedo's 160 led the way for the Green Team.
     Myra MacLean and Katie Green led the way for the Plaid team as the girls gained valuable experience heading into next year.

Mar. 3 & 4 Cottonwood (Waco TX)
     The Highlander Girls Varsity Teams finished 1st and 5th at the Marvin Dameron Regional Preview in Waco. Lots of solid play and valuable lessons were earned as the Highlanders claimed victory. 
     The Red Team was led by Kenlie Barrett's stellar 146 two day total. Hana Bowman backed up her teammate with her own solid 155.
     The Green Team was led by sophmore's Cheyenne Sowda (164) and Ava Bruner (167).
Mar. 10 & 11 Raven Nest (Huntsville TX)
A mixture of the Girls 3rd and 4th teams placed 6th in the Hornet invitational. The girls were led by Sophmore Myra MacLean (96-86) and Freshman  Katie Greene (92-97).
Seniors Anna Moore and Maura Coker wrapped up their high school careers with solid, yet bittersweet performances. Congrats to these two for their successes, and thanks for all their efforts and contributions to the Highlander golf team.
Mar. 24 & 25 Kingwood Forest (Kingwood TX)
The Girls Varsity Red and Green Teams faced their final tune up for the District tournament this weekend. Facing the Houston Area's top teams, one of the area's most menacing courses and the longest course set up of the year. The Forest course at Kingwood Country Club topped out at 6100 yards Friday and played slightly shorter on Saturday.
 
The Red team fired a 334-319-653 total to earn 3rd place. Kenlie Barret led the way with a 80-74-154 total. While Hana Bowman and Veronica Grey each contributed with a 2 day total of 164.
The Green Team finished 8th with scores of 351-349 totaling 700. Samantha Salcedo's 2 day 169 and Ava Bruner's 172 led the way for the Green Team.
The long, difficult course conditions were a great test as the ladies move on to the district championship in 2 weeks.
Apr. 10 & 11 District 12-6A Championships @ High Meadow Ranch (Tomball TX)
The Girls Red Team extended their season with a 2nd place finish at the district tournament. The Girls held the lead after day 1 but a 5 hour rain delay took a little wind out of the sails as they were unable to hold the lead after a long bout of sitting around.
Next up is the regional event at Cottonwood.
Ap. 24 & 25 Region 2-6A Championships @ Cottonwood (Waco TX)
Hana Bowman, Kenlie barrett, Karina Benavides, Veronica Grey and Hannah Bruner earned a place in the 2017 Girls 6A State Championship with a solid 3rd place effort this week. 
The girls will begin preparing for a grueling week of AP testing, Prom, and golf testing.
RESULTS
May 15 & 16 State 6A Championships @ Legacy Hills (Georgetown TX)
The Team finished 10th in the State firing 328 and 313.
Hana Bowman led the wy with a 2 day total of 156. Kenlie Barrett added 159 while Karina Benavides fired a 160. Seniors Hannah Bruner and Veronica Grey teed it up for the last time as Highlanders. They will be missed as they were both great teammates.
