Team History

The Highlander Boys Golf Team has established a very impressive tradition of success over the past 25 years.  They have accomplished 15 District titles, and 5 State Championships (1992, 2002, 2005, 2007, and 2012).  There have been three individual State Champions: Jeff Maggert (1982 ) and Bronson Burgoon (2003 and 2005).  Burgoon also holds the state tournament individual record of 130 (61-69).  There are five graduates who have had PGA Tour experience or are currently on the PGA Tour: Steve Jorgenson (University of Houston), Jeff Maggert (Texas A & M), Paul Dickinson (University of Alabama-Birmingham), Roland Thatcher (Auburn University), and Bronson Burgoon (Texas A&M).  Several other TWH alumni are currently playing collegiate golf.

Similarly, the Lady Highlander Girls Golf Team has an amazing history.  They have gained 23 District titles in the last 25 years, with 4 State Championships (1986, 2001, 2002, and 2003).  Two girls claimed the individual State Champion title: Katie Futcher (1998) and Ashley Knoll (2000).  Currently, Katie Futcher is pursuing a professional career on the LPGA Tour, and Ashley is on the Ladies European Tour.  Stacy Lewis is currently one of the highest-ranked players in the world.  She has won a major championship and is consistently on the leaderboard each week. Stacy has won a NCAA championship, competed on the Solheim Cup Team, and owns a LPGA Major Championship, the 2011 Kraft Nabisco Championship. Several other Lady Highlander alums are currently playing collegiate golf.
